Our Mission
With a steadfast focus on healthy living principles and YMCA values, our mission is to provide benefit plans of the highest value, demonstrating leadership and effective administration—allowing us to serve the YMCA Movement by strengthening local associations' ability to recruit, retain, and motivate quality staff.
By the Y, for the Y
YMCA Employee Benefits is a nonprofit benefits plan sponsored by YMCA of the USA—and the only one of its kind dedicated exclusively to YMCAs. Our plan members can have confidence in knowing that their benefits plan is dedicated to the same cause-driven values that local YMCAs inspire every single day.
Our team is made up of Y-USA employees with decades of industry expertise, and most of our governing body is comprised of CEOs and other leaders from Ys across the country. We are also selective about the vendors we partner with, ensuring that these external organizations align with what is important to the Y Movement.

History of the Plan
The National YMCA Employee Benefits Plan began in 1970 when the Chicago and New York YMCAs merged their group health and life contracts to form a larger pooled group to provide financial savings and stability for the YMCAs and their staff. More than half a century later, we continue to provide value and long-term financial stability for over 372 YMCA associations throughout the country.

The Value We Provide
The three areas of focus in our strategic plan are retention, satisfaction, and cost. Our commitment to these three principles drives all strategic priorities internally to ensure we’re providing exceptional value to the YMCAs that we serve. Unlike external insurance companies, we do not contribute to shareholder profits or broker fees. Our commitment to fiscal responsibility has allowed us to offer a long history of lower-than-industry-average renewals, providing financial stability to YMCAs.
